1820

Population in 1820 was 899.

Baptist Church organized, built a brick edifice. Later sold and torn down, not a strong congregation.
Barton & Doolittle built a Distillery at the Hollow

1821

Seth Severance was appointed Justice of Peace. He settled east of Butterfly. He died in 1856. He served as supervisor for 17 years.

1823

Ezra May replaced the log structure to Brick Hotel.
 

1824

Congregational church was started with the cutting of logs by members.
Andrew Place opened a hotel at Mays Corner and Boynton opened one at the hill.
Soloman Smith, first person buried in village cemetery.

1825

 

1826

Jessie Smith built a hotel, may have been along tollgate road.
 

1827

Congregational church completed, and was first completed church in Oswego County.
 

1828

Great Sickness in town 56 persons died, 30 of them children.
Rev. Ralph Robinson came to Congregational Church. He built up the membership.
Samuel Allen started a hotel west of the Congregational Church.
Thomas Congdon, first buried in Butterfly Cemetery.
